My name is Isabelle Desroches and I am the recipe developer, content creator, and food photographer behind this site.
For years, I’ve been asked for my recipes. My answer: “Sorry, I don’t have one.” This is now a thing of the past!
about me
Raised in the countryside of a small town in Québec, I grew up surrounded by a bounty of fresh food. There was a large garden where we grew fruits and vegetables. We’d go foraging for field strawberries and wild blueberries with by grandfather. Family members had dairy farm across my home where we sourced milk and cream. Collecting ingredients for my mom to cook with was often my task and she would transform them into delicious meals. Her cooking became an inspiration and a passion that is still growing today.

Cooking with Izzy features recipes made from scratch inspired by my Québécois heritage and the world and people that surround me. You’ll find recipes I like to make that are tried and tested in my home’s kitchen.
Cooking should be fun! I often substitute like ingredients to change things up or simply because that’s what I have on hand. I don’t over think it and for speed, I often approximately measure. Unless, you’re baking, most recipes are not an exact science. They should change with your mood, taste and diet.
